Our testing regime for transceivers includes bit error rate (BER) testing, eye diagram analysis, compatibility checks with mainstream vendor switches (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Huawei, etc.), and temperature cycle validation to ensure high reliability in challenging datacenter environments.
Why Parallel Single Mode 4-Lane Transceivers are crucial for hyperscale optical infrastructure
The 100G QSFP28 PSM4 (Parallel Single Mode 4-lane) optical module uses four independent channels of single-mode fiber (SMF) to transmit data at a rate of 25Gb/s per lane. In contrast to WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technologies, PSM4 uses a single laser source split into four modulator paths at 1310nm. This eliminates the need for expensive multiplexing/demultiplexing optical components, making it a highly cost-effective option for distances up to 2km.
Modern 100G PSM4 transceivers heavily leverage Silicon Photonics (SiPh). By integrating optical and electronic components on a single silicon substrate, manufacturers achieve significant reductions in power consumption (typically <3.5W per module) and heat dissipation. SiPh also yields higher manufacturing yields and thermal stability over standard discrete component designs, boosting the long-term MTTF (Mean Time To Failure).
Unlike Duplex LC modules, PSM4 requires an MPO-12/MTP-12 connector interface. The optical engine transmits over 8 fibers (4 TX and 4 RX lanes, leaving 4 fibers in the middle of the 12-fiber connector unused). This native parallel setup is ideal for direct breakout connections to 4x 25G SFP28 interfaces, providing great architectural flexibility in Leaf-Spine data center topologies.

The transformation of enterprise networks and the shift to high-bandwidth parallel optics
As artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, machine learning (ML) models, and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters proliferate, data centers require unprecedented transmission bandwidth. Standard 10G/40G architectures have become bottlenecks. 100G PSM4 serves as the optimal backbone link, offering the low latency and high throughput required for non-blocking fabric designs.
The global market for parallel single-mode transceivers is growing due to the expansion of edge data centers and cloud services. While 400G and 800G modules are being adopted in core networks, 100G PSM4 remains the standard for access layers due to its reliability and low cost per gigabit.
Forward-thinking network architects plan their fiber infrastructure around upgradability. Using MPO/MTP structured cabling systems configured for 100G PSM4 allows networks to seamlessly migrate to 400G (using 400G DR4) or 800G (using 800G DR8) by reusing existing fiber runs. This migration compatibility protects initial fiber plant investments.
Meeting the demanding expectations of global tier-1 operators and enterprises
One of the largest procurement risks for network operators is vendor lock-in. Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) modules from switch vendors are often priced with high margins. Global enterprises actively seek third-party transceivers that offer 100% interoperability with major platforms such as Cisco, Arista, Juniper, and Huawei.
Our modules are designed with custom EEPROM coding configurations to bypass host-system validation blocks, providing seamless plug-and-play operation and reporting identical DOM/DDM metrics.
In data center installations where thousands of optical transceivers are deployed, a small difference in unit price translates to significant project cost variances. Working directly with an established manufacturer like Kocent Optec allows procurement teams to bypass intermediaries, secure factory-direct quotes, and customize optical parameters to fit specific budgets.
Unreliable transceivers lead to packet drops, link flapping, and network downtime. Ensuring high manufacturing quality requires rigorous inspection. At Kocent Optec, every single transceiver is subjected to automated test beds. We evaluate optical parameters, spectral width, receiver sensitivity, and electrical signal integrity, complying with global standards like CE, FCC, RoHS, and REACH.
Comprehensive optical infrastructure integration from passive termination to active transceivers
A high-performance optical network requires more than just active transceivers; it relies on a robust passive physical layer. Kocent Optec provides end-to-end solutions combining active 100G QSFP28 modules with high-density patch panels, MTP/MPO fanout cables, and fiber optic splice closures. This guarantees matched insertion loss performance and link budgets from end-to-end.
We supply complete cabling and transceiver kits for Spine-Leaf networks. High-density MPO patch panels and OM4/SMF breakout cables connect to 100G PSM4 modules, enabling efficient distribution to 25G access switches.
Our FTTH ONU devices, GPON/EPON terminals, and active transceivers enable telecom operators to deploy high-speed internet services. We specialize in custom OEM manufacturing tailored for regional operator tenders.
For corporate data centers requiring secure, low-latency links, our Cisco-compatible active transceivers and high-density panels deliver 100G speed with low power consumption and high reliability.

Years of sales and service experience have enabled Kocent Optec to earn trust in diverse markets. Today, our footprint spans East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Northern Europe, South America, North America, North Africa, and South Africa.
We are dedicated to mutual success. Many of our OEM and ODM products have won Telecom Operator tenders and satisfy strict end-user requirements.
Navigating the transition from 100G to Next-Gen 800G and 1.6T Co-Packaged Optics
The optical transceiver market is evolving quickly. While 100G PSM4 remains a cost-effective choice for many access links, high-density AI clusters are driving the transition toward PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4-Level) signal encoding to achieve higher per-lane bandwidths.
